Working As a Team
Teamwork is a cooperative effort by the
members of a group or team to achieve a common goal.
As stated in one of my previous posts on the messageboard:
****Without respect, cooperation, dedication, participation, honesty,
faithfulness, willingness, a guild simply cannot be run efficiently."
Team work is broken down into 5 main behavioral categories:
1. SHARING
- Identifying and gaining agreement to the shared objectives of all members of the team - the common goals which all team
members contribute to: eg the GUILD mission, or GUILD objectives
2. PRIDE /CARING/RESPECT - Ensure there is PRIDE: in the GUILD and its goals; in each individual in how they contribute (pvpers,
tamers, mages etc)- "my role is important - I am important"; and in each members' roles - recognition by all that
EVERY ROLE is vital - there is MUTUAL RESPECT.
3. BONDING-
Many guild events which aim to "bond" members and are described as "teamwork" events fail because shared objectives
and mutual respect aren't in place to start with. It is very difficult to "bond" members who have differing agendas, don’t share the respect to other
guildmates or don't feel valued and respected.
4. COMMUNICATION
- teaching the skills and interactions of teamwork. If members SHARE and CARE, they ARE a team. But, there may be considerable
room for improvement in HOW they work as a team.
5. ROLEPLAYING,
each individual member has a role they are designated to play and they follow that role. Each member knows their place.
These Major divisions also consist of the following goals:
The Positive
1. Encourage each other to try innovative ideas.
2. Accept honest mistakes as learning opportunities.
3. Recognize each other for a job well done.
4. Engage (participate) in activities and events to improve guild
operations.
